Agreed on Sayyid Qutbs Shade of the Quraan, I was given Volume 30 as a wedding gift, started reading the shorter surah’s first as i read these in salaah - For non-arabic muslims, i cant stress how these writings improve your salaah & general understanding of Quraan.

With regards to your quotation of the Mujahid Shaykh Abdullaah ibn al Mubaarak (rahimahullah) then indeed you are correct masha’allaah.

The full narration is as follows:

It is reported from Nu’aym bin Hammaad:
‘Abdullaah bin Al-Mubaarak used to often stay at home, so he was asked, “Don’t you get lonely?” He replied, “How could I get lonely when I am with the Prophet– (صلى الله عليه وسلم) (i.e. I read his hadeeth)?”

Also on the authority of Nu’aym bin Hammaad:
It was once said to ‘Abdullaah bin Al-Mubaarak, “O Abu ‘Abd Al-Rahmaan, you often sit alone at home.” He said, “I am alone? I am with the Prophet- (صلى الله عليه وسلم)– and his Companions (ra).” Meaning: reading hadeeth.
Ibn ‘Asaakir, Taareekh Dimashq 32/458.

Shaqeeq bin Ibraaheem reports:
It was once said to ‘Abdullah bin Al-Mubaarak, “After you have prayed with us you don’t sit with us?” He replied, “I go and sit with the Sahaabah and the Taabi’een.” We said, “And how can you sit with the Sahaabah and Taabi’een (when they have all passed away)?” He replied, “I go and read the knowledge I have collected, I find their narrations and deeds. What would I do with you? You sit around backbiting people.”

I wanted to ask you whether average non Arab speaking Muslims can pick up these kinds of books and read it without a teacher as sometimes the books are not translated well; therefore causing one to misunderstand the works of such scholars and maybe eventually leading to some sort deficiency or misconception in the Deen.

Sheikh, I live in the UK and there is a revival here, slowly. The Muslims are seeing through the Saudi funding, and the government funding, and the apologists and the quilliam foundations of the world. They are starting to taste the sweetness of iman, one at a time.

Whenever I meet someone who has zeal for the deen, I give them milestones, and some of your lectures.

I have just embarked on learning more about Islam. I wanted some clarification on the four main schools of thought (Fiqh). This may sound like an unintelligent question but do we have to label ourselves as being one of the four i.e. Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i and the Hanbali school? I assume you are with the Shafi’i school of thought.
And is growing your beard classed as Fard and Wajib?
I truly appreciate the valuable insight and understand the sacrifice you have made for preserving the truth. May Allah (swt) protect you and your family Ameen.

You may be aware of a campaign bythe “Salafis”. They have written a whole treatise called “what is the manhaj of Anwar Al Awlaki”. Its a classic document, full of twisted logic and assumptions that certain shuhada insh are actuallynot so because they were killed by Saudi security forces! I have listened to many of your lectures, but the document convinced me more than ever that you must be transmitting Islam in your lectures!!! Mashallah!!!

Yar sheikh, Can you give us some simple advice on what we do in the West? I have worked with this group and that group, as you do, and I have a conundrum.

Do I work to implement shariah here, or do I give dawa with the intention of it effecting a Muslim leader,or are these both bogus calls. I understand that there are 2 fards. Repelling the aggressor, and establishment of the shariah to make allahs word the highest. Jihad, and khilafah. Do I follow the “meccan” period? We live in a multi layered reality. Scholars for dollars love to tell us as an ummah what we need t do, while ignoring the political situation. Please issue a fatwa or something. Guidance is needed, as is clarity so that the Muslims can work in clarity of thought.

I guess what im asking is “what is your manhaj” !!! In all sincerity brother as you are respected I know that it is delicate but I need to hear what you understand according to the Quran and sunnah.

Its at a salafimanhaj site. The saudi backed usurped salafi movement which are by all accounts apostates. The UK is full of this “dawah salafiyaa” which sounds very noble, but is reminiscent of all of the “reformist” movements, which Islam is not.

May Allah guide this ummah through the deceptions of Shaitan. Ameen.

Funny thing is i see the pattern all over again

Imam Ahmad ra- was imprisioned and humiliated and people went against him

Ibn Taymiyyah ra - was imprisioned also and people were against him (and look at the reason why he was imprisioned)

Ibn Al-Qayyim - Was humiliated and people went against him aswell

Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki - Was imprissioned and NOW you got people going against you

I am a salafi and I love Anwar al-Awlaki. Also I know some major salafi duaat in the west who also love Anwar al-Awlaki. Like Abu Usamah ath-Thahabi who advised in one of his lectures for people to listen to the lectures of Anwar al-Awlaki.

On the other hand I do know of some salafis (excluding the idiots of SP, as they make tabdee of everyone) who warn against the shaikh, but it is unfair to label all salafis with one brush.

Shaikh, may Allah reward you for your efforts.

I really think you should write a book about your experiences and life. I think you owe it to the Muslims as I think it will be very beneficial InshaAllah.

It was a lecture Abu Usamah gave in Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham. I cant remember the name of it, but I was sat in the lecture and heard Abu Usamah say that people should buy Anwar al-Awlaki lectures as they are very good.

Brother in islam, I have also read the so called ” jarah wa tadeel” from Super “salafis”. They have caused more harm to daawatu salafiyyah than they did some good. Their Dawa is on decline in the west and there is a new awakening going on all around the world which will bear the fruits of tawheed soon, Bi’Ithnillahi Ta3ala. As far as i know Abu Usama A dhabi, he is not on the same page as Br Anwar Al Awlaki.

Akhi Abu Dharaar if you re-read what I initially wrote, you will see that I mentioned how we should not pay any heed to the idiots of SP (salafipublications), as they make tabdee on everyone who is not with them, so there is no point in one wasting any time with them. In fact I personally don’t even regard them as Salafis.

All I mentioned was that im a Salafi who loves and respect Imam Anwar al-Awlaki dearly. Also my close friends, who are also Salafis, love and respect Imam Anwar dearly also.

I was just trying to get the point across, that if SOME Salafis do criticize Imam Anwar, it is unfair to label all Salafis with the same brush. Just like for example, if you see some Muslims drink alcohol, it is pretty illogical to therefore come to the conclusion that all Muslims drink alcohol and therefore Islam is bad.

I also love and respect Shaikh Bakr Abu Zayd (raheemaullah) who was from the Major scholars of our time. An whether or not Abu Usamah is on the same page as Imam Anwar is not the issue, as if you look in history you will find ulamah had differences with each other. All im saying is that I know of Salafi speakers in the West who love Anwar al-Awlaki and recommend Muslims to listen and purchase his lectures. Like Abu Usamah ath-Thahabi and Tawfique Chowdhury.

Also all praise due to Allah, I had the opportunity to spend two days with Imam Anwar some years ago in Nottingham in the UK. I was assigned to look after all the speakers at the conference, however I spent most of my time with Imam Anwar.

I really hope that Imam Anwar does write a book about his life InshaAllah.

I want to start with a prayer for all muslims and the mujahidin in particular everywhere they are. Jazak Allah Khair for solving some of my doubt about the great shahid of Islam Sayd Qutb, May Allah reward him with the Firdows. The dollars “Salafis” are working hard to killhis reputation. They will be asked Insha Allah on the Day of judgement.They can’t and will never convince me b/c i know they sold the religion with a big bucks. The Sheikh they follow are the puppet of the Royal Family. The so called “salafus Salih” think like a Jewish. That the Jennah belong to them alone. But you revived my love for the Shahid when Mashaa Allah a scholars like you are, who suffered in the hand of the Godless people and the armies of Dajjal recognized the great work he has done with the Qur’an. I know you’r very busy as one of the brother mentioned. Can you please tell people more about the Shahid (RA). May Allah protect you and your family from those blood suckers. Can you also talk a little about the “Salaful” Daiine( the lost ones). b/c We know the prophet (PBUH) said stic to the Qur’an and my Sunnah. Are they closer to the Sunnah than anybody b/c they are from the Saudi Arabia (the twin sister of Isreal).

Sheikh Bin Baaz and Sheikh Uthaymeen were not puppets of the Saudi Kings. We should look at their message before coming to a conclusion. They were the most respected and most learned scholars of modern times. may Allah give them the highest gardens of paradise. Ameen.

Please Shaykh, I just want a recommendation of which consice tafseer will be best for clarity. Some criticise Shaykh AlMawdudi’s Tafheemal Qur’an, Ibn Kathir might not be self explanatory and Dhilal might be too long. What do you know about Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Tafseer? Is it ideal..or I should go ahead with Ibn katheer? Jazakallahu khayran

I only have fi dhilal al quran at home. It is good. I love shaykh sayyid qutb’s books partly because his arabis is so easy to understand. Most of the classical scholars have the most hardest arabic I have ever read.If I can’t understand some words I ask my father for help.If shaykh anwar was my teacher I would probably give him a headache. May Allah bless him.
